Dutch Police Probe Use of Force Against Pregnant Woman at Asylum Center

(MENAFN) Dutch authorities have launched an investigation into an incident involving police use of force against a pregnant woman at an asylum seekers’ facility in Zeist, stating that “all facts and circumstances will be carefully examined.”

The probe began after videos circulated on social media showing officers carrying out an arrest at the center on May 19, as stated by reports.

Police confirmed that the woman shown in the footage was pregnant and said the officer involved was not aware of her condition at the time of the incident.

“He indicates that he would have acted differently if this had been the case,” police said in a statement.

Authorities said officers had been responding to reports of threats and vandalism involving a knife at the asylum facility.

Video recordings from the scene show officers confronting both a man and a woman inside a corridor. In one clip, an officer handling a police dog pulls the woman backward, causing her to fall to the ground.
